Mission Statement

This ministry seeks to affirm and support our military members and their families, to attract military members and their families in greater numbers to the body of Christ, and to foster a more intentional sense of community by uniting the needs of our military members and their families with the desires of others to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ.

Ministry Description

The goal of Central’s Military Ministry is to support military members and their families through existing ministries available at Central. Whether you just want to get connected to a small group; join a Bible study; serve alongside other like-minded men, women, and families; or need support because a loved one is currently deployed, injured or suffering from the effects of war, we are here to help.

This ministry exists to educate the congregation about the needs of their military; welcome and embrace military members and families as they transition to the area; build discipling and mentoring relationships; provide practical help for the families of members who are deployed; and foster networks, and partnerships among various church ministries that are postured to assist military families.

The Biblical Basis

Why should we be concerned with our military as a group today? Because grounded in faith and strengthened in the love of Jesus Christ, they can become witnesses God can use as they are sent out around our Nation and the world.

Galatians 6:2 exhorts us to “carry each other’s burdens, and in this way fulfill the law of Christ.” There are times while military members and their families are serving us when circumstances conspire to test their faith and spiritual maturity.

Whether easing the pain of lengthy separations as the service members deploy in harm’s way, the family stresses of redeployment, or the stresses of debilitating financial challenges faced by so many of our younger servicemen, we seek to meet these needs, unite our community and turn challenges into avenues of increased faith.

Ultimately, such demonstrations of the love of Jesus will draw more members of the military and their families residing in Wichita to our church. And as we engage in the lives of those we minister to, they will be strengthen in faith and become more willing and able to take the message to others in need of Jesus Christ.
